Expert Diploma in Bioethics

A specialized degree with an interdisciplinary approach, rational, and grounded in a metaphysical foundation open to a theological horizon. Its primary objective is to provide students with the scientific, philosophical, and legal knowledge needed to analyze Bioethics issues and determine the most appropriate solutions in accordance with the well-being of the individual, the common good of society, and future generations.

Thanks to a collaboration agreement signed with the University of Mary (N.D.), students, who have previously obtained a one-year Bioethics Expert Diploma from the Jérôme Lejeune Foundation, can now earn a Master’s Degree in Bioethics in just one year, online from the University of Mary (N.D.).

Why enroll in a Bioethics Expert Diploma Program?

In the last decades biomedical research has achieved results that have had and may have ethical and legal implications on man society and the future of humanity.

Complete knowledge of the human genome sequence and the CRISPR/Cas9 gene-editing technique, cloning by nuclear transfer of higher mammals, clinical applications of stem cells, in vitro fertilization techniques, surrogate wombs, ethical consideration of euthanasia, etc., are just a few examples of the bioethical issues we face.

In order to analyze all these issues in depth and with rigor, an interdisciplinary reflection is required to provide solutions to the new ethical dilemmas that arise, both in basic biomedical research and in clinical practice. And, in order to be able to carry out such reflection, it is necessary to have an adequate training in the fields involved: science, philosophy (anthropology and ethics) and law, among others. It is urgent to train people in Bioethics who are capable of analyzing and offering ethical answers to these and many other questions that will arise in the coming decades.

The Jèrôme Lejeune Foundation’s Expert Diploma in Bioethics offers this interdisciplinary training in order to acquire the ability to analyze these issues from a perspective that respects the dignity of the person, their integrity and freedom, from conception to natural death, and from a rational perspective open to the theological horizon.
